Verizon’s wireless service is coming out as a winner in recent times since its two significant moves - its tie-up with Apple for iPhones, and its 4G LTE network packages. Trace Verizon’s every move and projection with the latest news and events.
Verizon is the first carrier in United States to test the High Definition voice technology successfully for its 4G LTE network. With their good network infrastructure, they expect attracting a large number of subscribers. Although, AT&T, their biggest wireless competitor holds the highest number of customer in US, but with the launch of 4G service, Verizon can shuffle the market to a bigger extent.
Verizon’s iPhone arrived in the market during its poor time, but their marketing team says that these Smartphones will pick up the market soon and will catch up with AT&T’s iPhone sales. Verizon is targeting the high-paying Smartphone subscribers through its CDMA iPhone and Pre 2, but the competition is not that simple. After the launch of Verizon’s iPhone and 4G packages, AT&T have announced their unlimited voice call package to any network in a very competitive rates.
After the mystery fee investigation by The Federal Communications Commission, Verizon had to pay $77 million to the federal treasury as a refund. After this there were question marks on process of customers billing for the broadband plans. Soon, once again they faced constant hazards with FCC after they dropped 10,000 wireless 911 calls, which were made during the thunderstorm attack in Maryland in the beginning of 2011.
Verizon has also announced its data throttling speeds for the top 5% of its customers. They say that due to the top 5% high data downloaders, remaining 95% of users suffer bandwidth issue. This will be applied during the peak hours only for a limited period of time.
In order to promote the Android phones Verizon worked closely with Google and Motorola. They now accounts for 45% of the Motorola Smartphones in the US market. For Android customers, Verizon have uploaded numerous apps which will bind the Smartphone customers, rather than flocking to the other comparative packages from other customers.
