Zaxcom Announces Next-Generation Deva 5.8
POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. — April 12, 2007 — Zaxcom, a pioneering provider of professional audio equipment for the television and film industries, today announced that it will introduce the latest generation in its family of Deva hard disk recorders at NAB2007, booth N9017. The new Deva 5.8 features eight integrated hardware faders, an internal DVD-RAM drive and a Flash™ media slot, making it the only professional audio recording system to provide complete recording, mixing and effects capabilities within one lightweight package. Zaxcom’s new system will record to hard disk or flash disk for a completely solid-state multitrack recording solution.
“We’ve incorporated many new features into the Deva 5.8 that will make it more intuitive and flexible than ever. The system’s new integrated eight rotary fader control panel makes it a great choice for reality television productions in particular,” said Glenn Sanders, President of Zaxcom. “For those who are already enjoying our legacy Deva IV and V units, we’ll now be offering complementary software upgrades to bring EQ, notch filter and compressor functionality to our popular hard disk records.”
The Zaxcom Deva 5.8 records ten tracks of audio directly to a CompactFlash® memory card. The memory card slot is mounted directly on the control panel for quick and easy transfer of material from the production site to Post Production staff. The internal DVD-RAM drive provides users with a recording alternative and saves space by combining two products into one. With its unique touch-screen user interface, the Deva 5.8 provides operators with complete control over a range of functions, including channel routing and the ability to enter metadata without the use of external hardware. Additional features include EQ, notch filter, compressor and delay on each channel; the ability to mix to disk or outputs both pre- and post-fader; eight mic/line inputs with 48-V phantom power; and support for external FireWire recording drives.
For a complete sound cart package, the new Deva 5.8 will integrate with the Deva Mix-12, a control surface for the internal mixer of the Deva. The Mix-12 integrates with the Deva to perform all location mix and record functions, eliminating the need for expensive external mixing consoles.
The new Deva 5.8 system will begin shipping in May 2007. To learn more about the Deva please visit www.zaxcom.com.
