AT&T Wireless News and Events
AT&T, one of the largest telecommunication carriers in the United States, is now on a quick move to launch its 4G service in order to stay in the competition against Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. Let’s check out the latest announcements and happenings that will underline AT&T’s move in the long run.
New mobile Internet technologies constantly hit the market every now and then. All the major carriers are intentionally or unintentionally dragged in to the ultimate wireless race to prove their existence and dominance in the latest technology. AT&T’s sales and operations management departments are continuously matching up their pace with the market. They have announced their partnership with the Qualcomm Inc. for the purchase of their spectrum licensing. For using the 700 MHz lower frequency band the reported deal between them is said to be agreed on $1.925 billion. With this venture AT&T can provide the advanced version of 4G service for its customers.
Apple has announced its venture with AT&T for GSM iPhone 4. With this move AT&T is expecting a significant increase in its sales with this venture but, it has to face a tough competition with Verizon’s CDMA iPhone 4. These phones are not similar as it can be seen from the teardown analysis between AT&T iPhone and Verizon iPhone. Apple has signed a long 5 year’s contract with AT&T for iPhone.
To expand the customer base and customer attachment with AT&T, they have already started offering unlimited 3G service at a very low monthly price. It is said by the market analysts that this move will cut down their 4G marketing costs. It will also become easy for them to offer upgraded 4G service for their existing customers in the coming years.
Furthermore, to provide more sustainable mobile wireless Internet services and solutions, AT&T has tied up with Petra Solar, which will use smart grid technology combining solar generators. This can build up a better network in the 4G competition.
With all these moves, it is quite clear that there will be a 4G carrier war across United Stated in near future.
